John M. Sullivan, DVM, PhD, DACVP, DABVT

John M. Sullivan is native of Mississippi. He received a BS degree from Mississippi State University in 1977, a DVM from Mississippi State University in 1981, a MS degree in Toxicology from the University of Illinois in 1988, and his PhD in Pathology from Purdue University in 1992. He has been a diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Toxicology since 1990 and a diplomate of American College of Veterinary Pathologists since 1994. From 1992 until 1995 he was employed by Marion Merrell Dow/Dow Chemical Co., in human pharmaceutical safety assessment as a GLP study director and pathologist. In 1995, he joined Abbott Laboratories for 4 years as a study pathologist and study director in GLP preclinical and discovery study interpretation. In 1999 he joined Eli Lilly and Co., where he provided discovery and GLP risk assessment of preclinical in vivo and in vitro models. During his tenure he worked across therapeutic areas most notably in the endocrine and exocrine pancreas, kidney, and heart. He progressed from lead optimization management to Head of Endocrine Pathology, Head of Discovery Pathology and Toxicology, to Director of Pathology at Lilly. In summary, his over 25 years of experience in small and large molecule study interpretation, peer review, management review and overall toxicity risk assessment; in concert with communicating with scientists, research organizations, and sponsors have proven foundational to precise risk interpretation.
